Two weeks to go!

Time is flying, busy sorting out everything to bring and making sure I don't forget anything important. I got a few texts and emails after the news of the MS Explorer striking ice broke at the weekend. Thanks for your concern. Luckily everyone was rescued safe and sound. A timely reminder of the hazards of antarctic travel! Did a piece on Irish national radio on Friday on the Mooney Show about the Japanese whaling fleet heading for the antarctic hoping to kill over 1,000 whales, including 50 Humpback Whales, a species we hope to see and that many communities worldwide depend upon for tourism jobs. Four Weeks to Go!

Hi,

I am currently preparing for my trip to the freezer. Studying all aspects of the Antarctic but mainly the wildlife. Over the next few weeks I will be posting details of my six week trip and the places I hope to visit. During the trip I will post notes on my progress and experiences and if the technology is good to me I will also post images of the trip. With every posting I will include the latitude and longitude for our position and you can follow our progress on a map or on google earth . I hope this blog will provide an account of the antarctic which you might find interesting.
